The NEA Big Read Lakeshore is organized by Hope College and is centered around a month-long, community-wide reading program that takes place annually in the fall with over 50 events on campus and in the surrounding communities.
In the shared experience of reading a common book, we can discuss, listen to, and learn from each other. As a community , we can explore relevant and timely issues and themes.
From lectures and dance performances to food events and film screenings, you are invited to join thousands of Lakeshore readers as we learn more about these books, the topics and themes they address, and each other.
2025 Books
This year, we encourage our Lakeshore readers, of all ages, to read our selected titles and reflect on the themes including journeys, both physical and emotional, personal freedom, and the transformative power of imagination.
